[CS Ltd and Platinum Bank: Formula for successful migration to a new processing]

This year one of the large retail banks - Platinum Bank – announced the decision to switch to the processing center of Ukrainian financial network with a view to providing their customers with even wider range of operations with payment cards. So in November publications on successful completion of this project appeared in the press.

How the process of migration took place and what helped the successful realization of the project? This was explained by Aleksandr Golovko, deputy head of the department of CS Ltd online banking systems.

- Due to transfer of the bank to a new processing CS Ltd had to perform integration of the existing bank software with the CORTEX system on which the new processing is based and also with the APEX Line system of card issue replacing the IS-Card system used in the bank earlier.

Naturally the transfer to a new card system affected other bank software dealing with card operations. This included elements of integration with the card system within the framework of the B2 CBS and PtClick online banking.

All this software had already been integrated with the card system through the iB2 system well approved for 5 years of operation in Platinum Bank and several other banks. iB2 provides for all necessary operations with payment cards – including customer online registration in the card system, account opening, ordering or relinking instant (non-personalized) cards, search for customers, accounts and cards in the card system, adding and deleting cards from stop lists, setting credit limits and also requesting available balance and authorizing financial transactions. In that way the task of CS Ltd was down to iB2 adaptation for integration with APEX Line and CORTEX systems.

In the result of joint discussion the Ukrainian financial network developed a set of interfaces required by CS Ltd for enabling iB2 functions. And finally on November, 10 after preliminary migration of card data to CORTEX and APEX Line the bank system was switched to iB2 operations in the new mode.

It should be pointed out that this transfer was carried out so smoothly that remained almost unnoticed by both the bank customers and the employees of the bank. Thus there was no need to re-skill the employees in charge of customer servicing, opening card products for them and ordering cards – all these operations are still available in the form of the Customer service wizard.

“In spite of the technically complex process of transferring a large bank to a processing center of UFN we managed to finish it in a very short term and minimize inconveniences for servicing cards during this period”, - noticed Dmitriy Krasnoshlyk, member of Platinum bank management board.

Moreover keeping the existing interfaces of the iB2 system allowed PtClick online banking to continue work without adaptation. Customers could only notice some minor points due to the difference of product characteristics in the IS-Card and APEX Line systems.
