CS has successfully completed the implementation of the CBS B2 core banking system at Kapitalbank of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This project opens new opportunities for the bank’s development and demonstrates the effectiveness of CS solutions in the region.

Project Background

Kapitalbank partnered with CS to modernize its banking infrastructure and replace its existing core banking system. The bank sought to centralize its operations, gain flexibility for timely implementation of changes, and establish a reliable foundation to support the development of new banking products. The active development of Uzbekistan’s banking sector required modern, scalable technological solutions to ensure competitiveness.

Solution

CS delivered a modern CBS B2 system that provides high performance, flexibility, and security. End-to-end data processing significantly reduces transaction processing time, while enhanced integration capabilities simplify interaction with external systems. The system also supports the bank’s multi-branch structure, which was particularly important for Kapitalbank with its 16 branches.

Dmytro Radchenko, CS Director

The CBS B2 implementation at Kapitalbank represents one of CS’s largest projects in Uzbekistan. We are grateful to our partners for their productive collaboration and trust. Through our joint efforts, we successfully delivered a solution that not only meets the modern requirements of Uzbekistan’s banking sector but also provides a solid foundation for the bank’s continued growth.

Project Implementation Phases

During the initial implementation phase, the CS team, drawing on extensive experience with banking systems across different countries, adapted CBS B2 to comply with local legislation, regulatory requirements of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and local accounting practices. Bidirectional integration was established between CBS B2 and the existing system. To ensure maximum efficiency in regulatory interaction and rapid response to legislative changes, CS opened a representative office in the Republic of Uzbekistan, enabling direct access to regulatory updates from the Central Bank and providing first-line support during local business hours.

During the CBS B2 implementation project, Kapitalbank made a strategic decision to establish a separate branch called “Kapital 24” (renamed to United Branch of JSC “Kapitalbank” in June 2024) to serve retail customers. CS adapted the implementation plan and launched CBS B2 to serve all individual customers at the new branch, including through the “Apelsin” internet banking platform. The project team’s ability to adapt to the bank’s evolving business needs was a critical factor in the successful implementation.

CBS B2 functionality was gradually expanded, integrations with regulators and payment systems were implemented, and the system evolved in line with banking market changes. In February 2025, synchronization with the legacy system was discontinued, completing the full migration to CBS B2.

Key Implemented Components and Implementation Features

The project implemented the necessary CBS B2 components for comprehensive customer service and all key business processes. Special attention was paid to integration with the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan and automation of mandatory reporting.

A key feature was the integration of CBS B2 card modules with processing centers in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Kapitalbank operates simultaneously with four processing centers:

  • UZCARD domestic – for domestic transactions
  • UZCARD international – for international transactions
  • HUMO – state payment system
  • Proprietary processing center based on Tieto solution – supporting international card schemes (Visa, Mastercard, etc.)

As of March 2025, CBS B2 successfully processes approximately 500,000 issuing and 250,000 acquiring transactions daily, serving the bank’s card portfolio of over 1.7 million cards.

Notably, the Kapitalbank implementation became CS’s first project to feature automatic registration of bank cards with an external registrar – the National Information Database of Bank Depositors (NIDBD). This solution ensures regulatory compliance and optimizes the bank’s reporting processes.

The project also implemented integration with government regulators, information databases, credit bureaus, international money transfer systems such as SWIFT, Western Union, and Contact, as well as payment systems of the Republic of Uzbekistan, ensuring full regulatory compliance and effective interaction with the country’s financial infrastructure.

Project Results

Through the CBS B2 implementation, Kapitalbank achieved several strategic advantages:

  • A modern centralized system that supports both multi-branch and single-branch operations on a unified server platform
  • A universal interface for working with various processing centers, significantly simplifying card operations
  • Rapid integration capabilities with external systems through flexible architecture and APIs
  • A foundation for implementing new banking products, including potential Islamic banking offerings

The project objective of creating a unified integrated banking system with a complete customer service cycle and reporting capabilities has been successfully achieved.
