Implementation of B2ng in OTP Bank Moldova
"OTP Bank" JSC (Republic of Moldova) is one of the key players in the Moldovan financial market. Since 2019, the bank has been part of OTP Group, which is one of the leaders in the financial market of Central and Eastern Europe. The bank ranks third in the banking system by assets, has 51 branches, three institutions located throughout the country, where more than 800 employees work, serving approximately 167,500 customers.
CHALLENGE
Joining OTP Group in 2019 presented the bank, then still called Mobiasbanca, with an ambitious task – to conduct a complete modernization of its IT architecture in accordance with the group’s high standards. This required not only external changes in the form of rebranding but also deep technological transformation.
The main challenge was the implementation of the new CBS B2 (Core Banking System B2) with a modern web interface B2ng. This system was not just meant to replace the existing one but also to integrate with all other systems used in the bank’s operations, ensuring the continuity of all banking processes.
Additionally, the new system had to be adapted to the specific needs of the Moldovan banking sector and regulatory requirements. In particular, it had to be ready for the implementation of an instant payment system at the national level, which was planned by the National Bank of Moldova.
SOLUTION
To implement this large-scale project, the bank chose CS company as its IT solutions provider. CS offered a comprehensive solution that included the implementation of CBS B2 with a new web interface B2ng, developed based on the modern Angular framework.
A key feature of the solution was the implementation of the bank’s entire business process in B2ng. This included the implementation of multi-currency document processing and the creation of a multilingual interface, which was critically important for the bank’s multinational customer base. B2ng received a modern, intuitive, and standardized user interface (UX), ensuring convenience for bank employees.
B2ng was configured to perform the functions of a card back-end, providing efficient management of card operations.
The system enabled seamless interaction between CBS B2 and such important systems as:
- Kondor+
- Bloomberg
- SWIFT Online
- MPAY
- CNAS
- other internal bank systems
This allowed for the creation of a unified information space where data from different sources became accessible through a single interface.
An important aspect of the solution was the use of declarative task technology. This simplified further customization of the system by the bank’s IT department, providing the ability to adapt the system to new requirements without the need for deep code intervention.
Pavlo Fedorenko, Project PM from CS company
This project was a major challenge for both the bank and the company. It was necessary to coordinate the efforts of many bank departments for the timely implementation of all new systems and interfaces. This was achieved thanks to the professional and coordinated work of both teams – “OTP Bank” JSC (Republic of Moldova) and CS company.
RESULTS
The implementation of B2ng in “OTP Bank” JSC (Republic of Moldova) became a real breakthrough in the modernization of the country’s banking system. The entire project took 2 years, and as a result, the bank successfully migrated to a new core banking system with a modern web interface, which significantly increased the efficiency of all departments.
The integration of all banking processes into a single system improved interaction between different bank departments, leading to optimization of internal processes and improved customer service quality. The new B2ng interface, thanks to its intuitiveness and functionality, allowed bank employees to perform their tasks faster and more efficiently.
An important result was increasing the flexibility and adaptability of the banking system to new requirements and changes. Through the use of declarative tasks, the bank’s IT department gained the ability to customize the system independently, quickly responding to new market challenges and regulatory requirements.
Furthermore, the new system prepared the bank for the implementation of innovative technologies, such as the instant payment system planned for launch by the National Bank of Moldova.
