On April 1, 2023, the banking sector of Ukraine fully transitioned to a new generation electronic payment system – SEP-4.0.
SEP-4.0 fully complies with the requirements of the international standard ISO 20022, operates 24/7 and is the EU standard for the provision of financial services. At the same time, CS, as a leading provider of automated banking solutions, became a direct participant in this event. Thus, since June 2021, we have been preparing, maintaining constant communication with banks and the NBU, testing and developing CBS B2 accordingly. In 2022, our team implemented the functionality for exchanging messages via SEP-4.0 in the new web interface of CBS B2 – B2ng, and also improved the protection of the system, which is based on the use of signatures in the CAdES-BES and CAdES-X Long formats.
A large amount of work was performed for the implementation and successful launch of SEP-4.0, including:
- the functionality and formats of information exchange with COSEP were redesigned;
- the win32 interface was adapted to work with XML messages;
- in accordance with the requirements of ISO 20022, a number of new forms and operations were created in the web and win32 interfaces, changes were made to all forms and operations of the NBU/SEP section;
- in accordance with the requirements of NBU Resolution No. 163, printed forms of payment instructions were developed;
- an automatic process of online integration with COSEP was implemented based on a Java application (worker), capable of being configured and scaled depending on the volume of information processed.
Current information on improvements regarding data exchange via SEP-4.0 is regularly provided to our clients in the form of announcements that CS distributes to banks in a public application in the BTT system. And on the company’s website, we posted consolidated material on the current status of work on the project.
Our company also organized more than 11 thematic events in online and offline formats with the involvement of representatives of the National Bank of Ukraine.
On April 6, 2023, we conducted a small survey among banks on the implementation of SEP-4.0 in industrial mode. Namely, we were interested in the presence of difficulties during the transition, unresolved issues, and an assessment of the support provided by our company. At the same time, 100% of banks confirmed the provision of sufficient support from CS experts.
Roman Majevsky, project manager, CS company:
We are sincerely grateful to our clients for their joint work and effective interaction in the implementation and implementation of SEP-4.0. Thanks to your suggestions for improving the system implementation processes and active participation in its testing, we received a system that ensured our transition to a new generation of SEP. We hope that this will become an impetus for business development in Ukraine and open up new horizons.
